NIKITIN PRESS

Printing Process

At Nikitin Gallery, we are dedicated to producing museum-quality fine art reproductions through a carefully refined and highly detailed printing process. To ensure each piece meets our exact standards, we print on industry-leading papers like Hahnemühle German Etching and Epson Cold Press Bright—two of the most respected fine art papers available today.

Hahnemühle German Etching is a 310 gsm, 100% alpha-cellulose paper, and offers an exciting and organic texture and surface mottling. The natural white point of Gement Etching, combined with the texture creates a warm, authentic effect in the prints. The textured surface creates depth with the tonal values of the piece, making colors pop more vividly, and blacks on papers appear more black. When combined with printmakers printing techniques, Gement Etching allows for unparalleled color saturation and tonal transitions. The ability to get these phenomenal levels of detail allows each image to become an object, or piece of art. German Etching is well-suited to art and collectors who are drawn to the tactile richness of fiber-based papers and enjoy highly olfacated examples that surface qualities help express the feeling and depth within their pieces.

Epson Cold Press Bright is 340 gsm 21 mil thick, 100 % cotton paper that undergoes cold-press manufacturing processes. This unique process and subtle texture provides a more distinct surface texture that has a soft grained feeling while still retaining an even surface. The softly-grooved surface of cold-press paper allows Epson's UltraChrome inks to settle into the designed landscape of textures, filling with intriguing color and dimensionality. The absorbed ink sop reduces surface pigment and creates luminosity, especially helpful when reproducing digital artworks or photographic works from the past. The manufactured paper is free from lignin, chlorine and acid, providing archival stability, with a brilliant visual impact.

This method of utilizing the texture of the paper mounting and bonding these papers during the process of modern pigment printing insures we provide reproducations of such original works that elevate and replicate the original with depth, character, flexibility and longevity as prints of great significance.
